Judgement

Judgement

  • Draws up appropriate research and sub-questions.
  • Applies methods within the appropriate research strategies correctly, with taking care for validity and reliability.
  • Reports own work methodically and substantively with the research cycle.
  • Additional explanation

    • The student shows investigative attitude during the entire project and this is not limited to a certain project phase or aspect.
    • Research questions can be dynamic during the course of the research project.
    • Not every choice requires the same degree of thoroughness of research.

Design Challenge

Every devlog in this portfolio, is part of one of the design challenges listed below.

  • "Build upon an existing game made for diabetes patients, so they can record a play-through to be played back as virtual opponents by other patients with the same condition."
  • "Improve the sustainability and expandability of an existing game so future developers can add and edit the game more easily in the future."
  • "Build upon an existing game made for diabetes patients with new features, so that the patient can get a more personalised experience whilst playing the game."

The design challenges including sub-questions, are explained in more detail underneath the reading guide.

Structure

Devlogs are sub-questions explained in the why and how. Each devlog resembles research and/ or the implementation of a certain part of the project related to one of the design challenges. Within each devlog, I go through various research strategies depending on the question at hand. These ICT research methods can be found at this website. I also make use of the research cycle where I go through the steps of:

  • Context - explains why the research question is being researched and what is the starting point. Also states the research question.
  • Methods - goes through the process of researching the research question methodically listing every step in the process along with their respective ICT research methods.
  • Result & Validation - shows the results where possible and contains feedback of someone related to the research question.
  • Next Step - explains what the result of the research question will be used for in the future.
  • Sources - lists all sources used researching this research question via APA standards.
